1990-1991 School Year | OWL/NEWT Information

School Year Set Up

Each school here on TP follows the same year grid, to make everything neat and organized. Therefore, schools run from September to June regardless of cultural differences, because it's easier for us as admins to run things that way. Schools have the same set up for sports, holidays and breaks, while occasionally, having different cultural-wide festivities for each school throughout the year.

FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR OF 1990-1991

June 20th through August 30th -> summer holidays, all schools
-----> end of July: students learn of their prefect/headboy/girl positions, OWL/NEWT grades, etc.

August 31st -> arrival at specific school wizarding towns or prepare to head towards school
September 01 -> beginning of term events, students are sorted into respective houses
September -> first month of school
-----> no extra activities started
October -> second month of school
-----> tryouts for specific teams open
-----> third years and older may go to wizarding towns with signed permission slips
November -> third month of school
-----> tryouts end for specific teams
December -> fourth month of school
-----> positions for teams announced
December 23 - January 02 -> winter holidays; no classes; students may return home from school
January 02 -> students must be back at school to start classes again

January 03 -> school resumes from winter holidays
January -> fifth month of school
-----> first and second round of games are played
February -> sixth month of school
-----> third and fourth team games are played
March -> seventh month of school
-----> rounds one and two of semi-finals are played
March 29 - April 02 -> spring holidays; no classes; students may return home from school
April 02 -> students must be back at school to start classes again

April 03 -> school resumes from spring holidays
April -> eight month of school
-----> rounds thee and four of semi-finals are played
May -> ninth month of school
-----> finals are played for sports
-----> students start reviewing for OWLs/NEWTS harder
-----> trips into specific wizarding towns are ended
June -> students take examinations and leave school for summer

OWLs & NEWTs || CLASS GRADING SYSTEMS

Here on TP, we run as easy as we can -- therefore, our grade systems are similar in all schools, regardless of language. The tests of OWLs and NEWTs are following HP lore and will be explained below.

OWLS -> taken by HOGWARTS and ILVERMORNY students in FIFTH year
OWLS -> taken by BEAUXBATONS and DURMSTRANG students in SIXTH year
NEWTS -> taken by ALL SEVENTH YEARS at the end of their school career

Please remember that students at The Facility do not take either OWLs or NEWTs!

Students receive examination marks throughout the year, but most notably are OWLs and NEWTs returned in the mail. Students who achieve an "E" or higher are able to continue their studies to NEWT-level classes.

PASSING GRADES:
O - Outstanding
E / EE - Exceeding Expectations
A - Acceptable

FAILING GRADES:
P - Poor
D - Dreadful
T - Troll
