DE ORDINE ELEMENTORUM The Order of the Elements
De Ordine Elementorum was created in the early 500’s, when Greek and Roman witches and wizards came to China to visit. Some of these wizards and witches stumbled upon a small temple in rural China which housed magical folk who didn’t necessarily use wands like the Europeans did. These Chinese members used their hands, runes, blood magic, and ancient scrolls to control the elements – something that completely baffled the Greek and Roman wizards. These wizards wanted to establish a relationship with these Chinese wizards themselves, and thus, De Ordine Elementorum was created. De Ordine Elementorum is a special feature offered here on TP in which a normal witch or wizard is enabled enough to control the elements offered below. Often times, these magical children have very little control over their wand in terms of casting non-element related spells, but can learn to focus themselves should they need to. Elementums, as called singularly and outside of De Ordine, generally have one specific element, but some have two or three elements that they are particularly apt at. While some adults in the wizarding world know about De Ordine, most of the wizarding population is completely cast in shadows – Elementums are very powerful breed of wizard, and are often time subject to tortures and experimentations for their power. Elementum students are often kept save and learn early on their power is the harness of the world, and most choose to stay neutral, although it’s really up to their own decisions on where they stand. Elementums have rituals and established rules that are written in code for all Elementums to obey. ELEMENTUM TITLES Puer Elementum: The Child of the Element; these are new students, aged anywhere between nine years of age and thirteen years of age, who are just learning their Elementum status. Students of this class are carefully guided outside of school whenever possible, and are often the most cared for out of all the titles. Puer Elementums are often assigned to a Medium or Vetus Elementum who has the time and patience to help guide them through their often rough transitional status. Adulescens Elementum: Once a student turns fourteen, they become Adulsecens Elementum, The Adolescence of the Element. These students are still guided by their older mentor until they reach the age of legality, seventeen, and are often trained to handle themselves. More and more often, these Elementum are to practice themselves, and to report with weekly or monthly “tests” that prove they’ve been studying. The older Elementums do this to enable the Adulescense Elementums to be great leaders and hands on learners. Medium Elementum: The Adult of the Element; once a student is legally seventeen, they have a special promotion into this rank. Oftentimes, De Ordine have special celebrations in December, May and August. These celebrations have several students become legal Elementums in De Ordine, and these celebrations tend to be weekend long stints. One of the key things at these celebrations is the announcement of new Puer Elementums, and their new mentors set out to teach them. Vetus Elementum: The Senior of the Element; once an Elementum reaches the age of thirty, they qualify for Vetus Elementum. Vetus Elementum are the eldest and most reliable of the Elements, and have quite a few in number – probably more than any of the other elements. This is most likely due to the fact that most Vetus Elementum proceed in the Age Ritual on and around their thirtieth birthday. Vetus Elementum, once they’ve passed the age of seventy, qualifies to become Dux Elementums. Dux Elementum: Leader of the Element; these Elementums are seventy years or older, and have gone through years of their Elementum training. Dux Elementums are the leaders of their specific element. Rather than having a single Dux Elementum, there are anywhere between two and three Dux Elementums at a time; that way, there are always at least twelve to eighteen leaders. Dux Elementums are the ones who choose who Puer Elementums go to, are the ones who test Adulescens Elementums, are the ones who create the celebrations for Medium Elementums and who help perform the age ritual for Vetus Elementums. Not only that, the Dux Elementums are the ones who make any and all serious decisions relating to De Ordine and the future of the Elementums. Videns Elementum: The Seer of the Element; far and few between, an occasional Videns Elementum will appear in the works, generally at a very, very young age. These elementums are often the ones who can seek out and see new Elementums as they first start to show their own signs of development, and while they're not necessarily the perfect at being able to pinpoint the child's location, they can manage to get in the general area. Sometimes, they have the ability to see a child's hair color, eye color or family counterparts to narrow it down, but often times, it's really a race to find the child. Because these are so rare, if you wish to play a Videns Elementum, we will screen your character heavily, and decide whether or not you'd be a good fit. ELEMENTUM DISCOVERY It is quite uncertain how older Elementums were naturally discovered, but new Elementums are discovered early, anywhere after their seventh birthday, and before their fourteenth. This is the prime time to discover a new Puer Elementum, as they are young enough to start their training, and to understand their place in the hierarchy. Discovery can happen with any type of Elementum; since they’re all connected as one, a balance of power, strengths and weaknesses, it’s easier for same elements to feel each other, but they all can feel it equally. Sometimes, elementums have trouble finding air elementums, because they don’t quite fit into the cycle. When Puer Elementums of air are announced, they are definitely taken quite good care of. A Puer Elementum, as often as they can, has a strength in performing their same-element spells (such as Aguamenti for water elementums), and struggles on the rest of their first few years of their wizarding school. More than not, their first signs of magic are also elementum-related, and this is often the reason why elementum children are discovered as early as seven years of age – well before they arrive at school for their first year. ELEMENTUM RULES Elementums under De Ordine live and breathe by certain rules. Every Puer Elementum learns them, and whenever a rule is broken, it is imperative that the Elementum who broke them fixes the issue. Some rules are more fluid than others. First: Elementums should use their powers within judgment; this rule shows that Elementums can walk any affiliation path they chose, as long as it is within their own judgment, and not because of an influential one. Second: Elementums should not disclose their powers; this rule can be broken with various degrees; informing loved ones is important for the growth and development of the Elementum, but one should not go around showing their powers to just anyone. Use discretion. Third: Puer and Adulescens Elementums cannot be sold for profit; after a man named Leopold Dywnder, a particularly apt Fire Elementum, saw the profit for children of the Elements, he purposely sold twenty to forty children and teenagers into the scientific world for his own income. This is highly frowned upon nowadays. Fourth: Elementums will practice their use every day of the year; there are special rules in place for young Elementums in their school years to have safe haven of practicing magic outside of school. These times are specifically designed to work with older Elementums for guidance. Fifth: Elementums will keep the secrets of their powers to themselves; tied into the second rule, Elementums will not openly disclose information about other Elementums or De Ordine or any of the Elementum locations to muggles, wizards and those who do not need to know. Sixth: Muggles and Magical Folks who are not Elementums will not step foot on Elementum Homeland; There are seven Elementum locations shrouded in fog and completely invisible by most muggles, but some particularly apt magical folk could find it. It is imperative that Elementums do not allow wizards or witches to breach their Elementum homes, or De Ordine. There are several Elementum Rituals that Elementums take part in, although not all of them are sponsored by De Ordine. For example, Dux Elementums often hold the Age Ritual for those who seek it, but Dux Elementums will very rarely partake in binding rituals. Below are the currently known Elementum Rituals. Ius Decem: The Right of Ten; This, by far, is the most common ritual that many Elementums know of. This is the Age Ritual. Once an Elementum reaches the age of thirty, they may start participating in this ritual. By using some of their blood, and their own magic, their age is harnessed into specially carved stones (runes) that the Elementum then has to either wear or carry at all times. Most Elementums make their runes into charms and necklaces, and many actually keep old runes to keep track of how many times they’ve done their ritual. They need to do this every ten years – they can continue, quite honestly, indefinitely should they keep it up, but the process of aging stops once an Elementum reaches eighty years of age. After the Elementum has reached one hundred and ten years of age, any missing of the Age Ritual will result in death within one to two years. In Ius Augmentum: The Right of Growth; while not as common as the Age Ritual, this is also a very open and knowledgeable ritual. The Right of Growth often happens at the ceremonies of those who have turned seventeen, and involves a more private celebration between the Dux Elementums and the newly turned Medium Elementums. Often times, this ritual is a process where both the newly turned seventeen year old and one or two of the same element Dux leaders will shed blood and pool it together in a small bowl. Once that has done, charcoal or another dark substance is added, along with ground runes of the marked Element. Once this has been done, the Dux Elementum will mark one of the symbol of the Element into the Medium Elementum with a permanent tattoo – this will give the new adult the ability to feel, grow and harness their powers even more, including wandlessly. While this ritual sounds like it hurts, it is actually only painful for a few hours after the ritual, and then the new Medium Elementum feels all of the power. Dominus Est: The Owner of One; this ritual is known as the binding ritual, and isn’t a very accepted ritual, although it’s quite common in more of the darker sects of Elementums. While this ritual is similar to the other binding ritual, there is a great difference: this one causes extreme pain for the Elementum who has to sit through it. During this ritual, blood is shed from both parties, and combined through alchemy into a rune. This rune is marked with the symbol of the Elementum who is doing the binding, and then it is placed within the other Elementum’s body. It doesn’t stop there. Once the body accepts the rune, the wound is shut and sealed generally with a symbol of the Elementum who bound the other – initials, a well crafted and thoughtful Chinese character, etc., that shows ownership. The affects of the binding, if done well, will tie the bound Elementum to the other wholly – they’d be able to feel each other’s presence, and power, and feelings, and while it sounds like a good thing, it’s not. In the long run, the one who has the runes embedded into their body often feel this natural submissive tug towards their owner, needy and wanting and needing to please forever. Communem Potestatem: Shared Power; this is the other version of a binding ritual, and not as powerfully dark as the former. This is when a group of different elementums – six, to be in fact – link their powers to create a harmonic circle. By binding each other with the other elements, their own strength grows and the whole group becomes powerful. It only happens when each group has one elementum of every element that has willingly been bound. Unlike the previous ritual, which contains runes being embedded into the body, this uses blood and charcoal that is tattooed on the body, generally in a circle on the back or somewhere well hidden, with the own Elementum’s element missing. This has shared blood from each of those being bound, and similar to the other ritual, Elementums can feel each other’s weaknesses and strengths, feelings and have a sense of connection to each other. ELEMENT RELATIONS De Ordine has set up a hierarchy of classifications based on age, they did not create a hierarchy of power – no element is greater than each other. Originally, the five elements (Wood, Earth, Water, Fire and Metal) were the only elements that could be harnessed, but in the later years, air has developed as one, as well. Elementums treat each element equally – they have a particular bond with one another that either grows stronger, or weakens each other. For example, wood elementums with fire elementums make the latter stronger, while water elementums and fire elementums make the latter weaker. Air elementums are wild cards – they can both strengthen and weaken the original five, granted the air elementum knows what he or she is doing. Without air, the following is the natural order of creation (strength) and destruction (weakness): Wood feeds fire; Fire creates earth; Earth bears metal; Metal collects water; Water nourishes wood --------------------------- Wood parts earth; Earth absorbs water; Water quenches fire; Fire melts metal; Metal chops wood
DE ORDINE LOCATION While each of the separate elements have their own area around the world, the main De Ordine location is located in Wa Ermaxia, Menyuan Hui Autonomous Country, China. De Ordine is located in the mountains around Tibet, and is shrouded in clouds and snowstorms. While to muggles it looks like an impossibly dangerous climb, most Elementums and wizards who visit the little mountain are rather surprised at how warm and comforting this place is. Set with traditional Chinese architecture, temples, swimming areas, and buildings for learning are all set within the small radius. There is a small sector for each of the Elements on the mountain, but the main part of De Ordine, the common area, is speckled with runes and symbols from all of the elements as it comes into one.

ELEMENTUM F.A.Q's ... and other important information How old can you be to become a discovered Elementum? The minimum age of discovery is about six or seven years old, when the first signs of magic start to appear. Most Elementums are discovered usually no earlier than seven years of age, though. Please note that unless a child is nine, they will not be able to attend lessons at De Ordine, though.
Can my student be in school and undiscovered? Yes. If you wish to play out this special feature through the entirety of it, you may start with an undiscovered Elementum. Please note that if your character is older than thirteen, then your character would already most likely be discovered. It's more likely to discover a new Puer Elementum within the first three years of their schooling.
My Elementum doesn't have any of the traits listed below for my hopeful element. What should I do? The guidelines we have set out below are just that: guidelines. We expect Elementums to have at least a good amount of traits that are listed or similar to the traits listed when you apply for your Elementum special feature. We also understand that not every character falls into nice little neat boxes, so we'd make a few exceptions. A few. Generally, a good rule of thumb is to have at least four to five of a certain element's traits listed somewhere in your application!
My Elementum has traits from multiple elements. Help! That's okay! Since all the elements have to work together (you can't have fire without earth and air, and without water; and you can't have metal without fire, as it produces its strength), so most Elementums will have multiple personality traits from multiple Elements. We're looking for the main one: if you're interested in having a metal elementum, you're going to have traits similar to fire, wood and earth. We did it for a reason!
What are the runes for, and why are they important? Aren't they just symbols? Yes, and no. Runes are important as they help in runic focus and spell creation with Elementums. They have a specific meaning and power behind them. To learn about that, you can click this link. Symbols and Runes are the same, but they are equally different. In Elementum worlds, a Symbol is the heart and core of an Elementum -- they are all unique and similar, and they connect them all together. They are the sign of an Elementum, and every Puer Elementum learns which symbol looks like. Most Elementums, though, learn how to carve and create their element-specific runes, unless one has an Ancient Runes class in their school.
I want my Elementum to have a specialty, like ice or rock or snow. What can I do? Generally, Elementums who have these specialties are pretty advanced students -- generally aged thirty and above. While not rare with younger students, though, these specialties are often the result of binding rituals, and when a student has been studying for a long time. For example, ice is a mixture of air and water (cold air + water = ice), and rock is a mixture of metal and earth. You can be creative for specialties, but we need to see at least a main element for each and every elementum before we'll allow it!

LIGNA ELEMENTUMS Wood Elementums Symbol: ☳ Runes: ᛇ , ᛁ , ᛗ Home: Amazon Rainforest In Codajás, State Of Amazonas Brazil Control: Ligna Elementums can control and shape the hardness of wooden structures and trees around them. They can also control dead and alive trees, buildings and structures on an advanced level. Paired with Terra Elementums, Ligna Elementums are able to grow trees and shape them as they grow. Paired with Aqua Elementums, Ligna Elementums and strengthen the thickness of the tree. Ligna Elementums are also able to bend the will of wood to work with, making them often skilled fortress and wall builders. Color: GreenSeason: Spring Known as: the architect, the artist, the woodworker, the shield, the protector Personality: focused, determined, hard-headed, sturdy, loving, protective, thoughtful, solid, polite Lessons Learned:Ligna Elementums learn the basics of their abilities starting at age seven, eight or nine (depending on their discovery). The first several years once they are in school are more formal teachings than hands on learning. Once a Puer Elementum has graduated into an Adulescens Elementum, their formal hands on training begins. Often times, once an Adulescens Elementum has reached sixteen, they are trained in the act of wandless magic to grow their powers and to prepare them for their In Ius Augmentum. Age 8-10: At this age, a student of Elementum is too young to practice whole hearted spellwork, so most Puer Elementums who fall in this category start to learn the basics of runic technique, proper skills of blood magic, and the history of Elementums. They also begin their study on Latin and Ancient Chinese language, which are the languages of the Elementums. Once a Puer Elementum becomes nine years of age, they are taken to study often at De Ordine's home base in China, and can interact with other students of the Elements. Age 11-13: Once a student has aged to eleven or twelve and has begun their wizarding school, basic and minor spells of the element is taught. In this category, it focuses on wand work and prefecting the minor non-element related spells a student will continue to be able to use in the future. The most common spell taught during this time is the basics of the elementum spells (see spell list below), which is the basic of all the elementum spells. Age 14-16: Once a student has mastered the spellwork from the previous age bracket, they are started to gear for more powerful and stronger magic. They can learn to read elementum-specific spells wand wards and start to create those through their wand. At the age of sixteen, it is stressed that more of their magic should be less focused on a wand and more through runes and their own innate abilities, as their seventeenth year is approaching. During these years, less hand holding from the mentors happen, and it is definitely geared towards self-study than a formal study. Age 17: Once a student legally becomes seventeen, they proceed with their In Ius Augmentum, a ritual that binds them to their element and allows them to freely use it, both with and without a wand. After their coming of age ritual, a student will often travel through the Caves of Conflict for a long weekend, where they will both struggle and harness their newfound power. This travel happens quite a few times during their seventeenth year, and whenever a student is out from school, De Ordine and Dux Elementums often test the new Elementum with their wandless prowress. Often times, students at this age focus on combat and medicine learning to help and protect themselves and others. Age 18+: Once graduated from a wizarding school, or once a student turns eighteen, they are apart of a small group of students who continue to harness and grow their elementum powers. Generally after eighteen, very few spells are learned until well passed their age bracket, but practice makes perfect. Stronger spells start to appear when an Elementum becomes thirty and after their ten year ritual, and the more an Elementum uses their power, the more control they have over their specific element. Ligna Spells: (this list goes from basics to more advanced) --> vocare lignea: the basic of the spell works for this element. This is the basic transfiguration of creation and summoning wood. --> perdere ligno: the opposite of vocare lignea, this is the destruction or the basic unsummoning of the wood. --> crescat: the growth and strength of wood, often paired with vocare lignea. --> murus: the creation or structural building of a wall. Often used as protection. --> proelium: the basic use of wood and wooden objects to create a force. Often used as an offensive method. --> praesidium: the creation of a structural fortress in terms of protection. Used with a scroll or runes. --> scindo: the cut, destruction, or dividing of a structure for alternative means. Used with a scroll or runes. --> aedificarem: the building of wooden structures, in terms of defense and offense. Used with a scroll or with runes. Often also aided by other elementums.

Ferrum Spells: (this list goes from basics to more advanced) --> vocare ferrum: the basic of the spell works for this element. This is the basic transfiguration of creation and summoning metal. --> perdere ferrum: the opposite of vocare ferrum, this is the destruction or the basic unsummoning of the metal. --> crescat: the growth and strength of metal, often paired with vocare ferrum. --> murus: the creation or structural building of a shield. Often used as protection. --> proelium: the basic use of metal object to create a weapon or several small weapons. Often used as an offensive method. --> fingo: the creation of a structural fortress of metal in terms of protection. Used with a scroll or runes. --> conciderunt: the cut, destruction, or dividing of metal for alternative means. Used with a scroll or runes. --> aedificarem: the building of metal structures or objects, in terms of defense and offense. Used with a scroll or with runes. Often also aided by other elementums.
